Republicans: More Education, Less Reality
Via Chris Mooney to Digby to Krugman then me — this remarkable item from a Pew report:
College-educated Republicans are more likely to deny scientific reality.
They don’t spend their time in college (or life) trying to learn how the world works; they spend it learning how to mine, harvest, cherry-pick, and twist any “facts” they can find to conform to, and support, their faith-based beliefs.
Is it any wonder that among scientists — who devote their lives to trying to figure out how the world works — 55% are Democrats and only 6% are Republicans? (Click for source.)

I would say it is because the college educated are more political but there isn’t a lot of difference between political and ideological at that end of the spectrum.
Ahh that eplains why the elitist snob Barack Obama wants everyone to go to college. It isn’t to undermine religion (correlation wrong sign). He wants to make Republicans too stupid to figure out how to vote.
Out of the box ? Sure, but you have to admit it makes more sense than trying to reason with them.
Well … I guess this lends credence to the Nativist arguments .. ya think? It’s hardwired …
Obama is running anti-Romney ads in Michigan. It is probable some Democrats will cross over and vote for Santorum to try to defeat Mitt. Fun and games.
Steve
thanks for this.
i have been pretty hard on the “salvation by education” camp. but i have been looking at Republicans too long. it’s good to see that normal people learn something, even if it doesn’t help them find a good job.
First of all i have to say about your interest about education. i do recommended this post for the education sites. But you are right, this is not enough to know everything about education.
